Two Bad Apples, Brad and Laveryne. Have a read through our history and learn about what lead us to host a bed and breakfast in Airdrie / Calgary.

While reflecting on how I came to dream a bed and breakfast, I realized the seed was first planted in small-town Saskatchewan. I was a young wife and mother and pursuing my nursing career. A nursing collegue involved in dairy farming was not free to travel the world. She decided to bring the world to her by opening a B&B. Her ingenuity impressed me. Little did I know one day I too would venture a similar commitment.

My formative years probably influenced our recent decision as well. My mother has a gift for creative spaces. Coming home from school or a date, I never knew if the sofa might be in a new place or my room moved to a different floor. More recently my dad has equipped all furniture with castors to accommodate her creative gift! Possibly my love for color, pattern and design is a result. With further input from Brad and daughters Dallas, Lesley and Jodi I have thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to create beautiful spaces for our guests.

Our respective careers of nursing and commercial pilot have also influenced us. Brad with his sense of adventure yet responsibility, enjoys a good chin-wag with anyone. His love of flying, music, motorcycles, family and humour endears him to many. His culinary and housekeeping skills endear him to me!

My nursing journey has been institutional and community, teaching and learning, Canada and outside Canada. Most recently I have had the opportunity to practice wholistic nursing care as a parish nurse in a faith community. I hope all my varied and enriching experiences will merely continue to grow. As opportunity arises I hope to continue to use my many nursing skills in the B&B setting. Take a look at our FOCUS page.

Our name hopefully covers the essential five “W’s”.

WHO: An apple and an angel; Brad and Laveryne. You’ll have to decide which one is the apple and which one is the angel.

WHAT: Apples are a delicious and health promoting food that nurtures our physical selves. Angels are guardians and messengers that help care for our souls. Our place is definitely a Bed and Breakfast but we offer special focus opportunities as well. Click on FOCUS for more information.

WHERE: You can enjoy all the small town convenience of Airdrie, only 15 minutes from the Calgary International Airport and central to exploring Alberta's amazing attractions.

WHEN: “A little taste of heaven” is our logo. Airdrie / Calgary is a wonderful place all year round and we look forward to serving you in any season of the year and any season of your life.

WHY: Brad and I travel Bed and Breakfast whenever possible and enjoy the unique experience of each place and people.
